Deborah is a 1985 Political Science alumna who minored in Economics at Penn State. She is a foreign service officer for the U.S. Department of State. "As a foreign service officer representing the United States abroad, you draw on so many aspects of a liberal arts education: a deep knowledge of American culture, history, and values; the ability to communicate with people from various cultures and communities—both verbally and in writing; and analytical, planning, and negotiation skills," she said.

Mitchell is a 2019 Political Science alumnus who minored in Business and the Liberal Arts and Economics. He is now a policy specialist at Google. "I was fortunate enough to complete three different internships while working on my degree. My favorite professional experience was definitely my legislative internship on Capitol Hill," he said.

Edka is majoring in Political Science and minoring in Global Security and Jewish Studies. She recently interned at Children's Law Center, a legal aid society for at-risk children in Washington, D.C. Edka learned of the internship opportunity from her mentor through the Liberal Arts Alumni Mentor Program. "This internship was truly a reward because I was able to see and be part of the kind of work I hope to accomplish in the future," she said.

"Eventually, I plan to work in United States politics, thereby using this experience to better understand the part that individuals and communities play in shaping societies," he said.

Kelly is a Political Science major with minors in History and Sociology. She spent this past spring interning with Centre Safe Legal Services. She learned of the opportunity through her academic adviser. "I work in an environment where I am overseen doing tasks that actually reach the courthouse, thus improving my knowledge in the field that is seemingly untouchable," she said.
