Biography:
I started my college journey with the hopes of becoming a high school math teacher. I had a great math teacher in 9th grade, and she motivated me to become not only a math teacher, but also a role model for future students! I started my academic journey at Penn State Abington while commuting from my hometown of Doylestown, PA. After two years I transitioned to the University Park campus and realized I loved high school math...not college math. I vividly remember my first exam in MATH 312 at UP and the first question was "Prove why 1 is less than 2 and 'it just is' isn't an acceptable response." It only got worse from there! So, I decided that I could still pursue my goal of becoming a student advocate and role model through the Rehabilitation and Human Services program. It did mean I graduated a semester late, which I like to call my victory lap! However, that extra summer and semester at UP led to my involvement in offices like New Student Orientation and Career Services, which fueled my passion for working in higher education!
After I graduated from undergrad, I took a job as an Admissions Counselor with Penn State World Campus and pursued my graduate degree while working full time. It was a tough journey, but I knew gaining experience would really help my learning and my career journey. Once I graduated with my graduate degree in Higher Education, I explored a few careers at Penn State, but have decided that Academic Advising is my favorite. I love helping students with their questions, no matter how small, and making their academic journey the best it can be!
