I have taught at Penn State for over forty years. As a philosopher, I work on the Early Modern Period, on Practical Deliberation and also on Philosophy of Science (mathematics, physics, cosmology, chemistry and biology), which has resulted in 11 authored or edited books. As a poet, I write poetry, literary essays and book reviews, and work as an editor for The Hudson Review. This has resulted in 17 books, including various translation. My recent book Great Circles: The Transits of Mathematics and Poetry brings these projects together.
