Give us a brief summary of your experience?

I analyzed and researched investment opportunities for clients based on their personal needs and parameters and within their risk tolerance. Using data and market trends to provide investment choices for clients who had specific goals for their portfolios was my main duty as an intern. I also attended meetings with clients and investment product sellers and learned what information is vital for making the best investment decisions.

"This experience will help me search for jobs and find a career in the financial world and my experience here has given me the opportunity to see what it takes to be successful."

How did this experience impact you academically?

This internship allowed me to connect my knowledge of macroeconomics to the stock market and understand the connections between the overall global market and individual markets and companies. The work I did was detail intensive and I paid close attention to the analytical aspects of the market. This detailed approach will help me with future courses in this area of study and in my career.

How will this experience impact your career goals?

This experience gave me a small window into the financial world and the work that goes into building investment portfolios for clients with all different needs. This experience will help me search for jobs and find a career in the financial world and my experience here has given me the opportunity to see what it takes to be successful.

How has the College of the Liberal Arts helped you to find and/or succeed in this experience (e.g., adviser, faculty, staff, enrichment funds, etc.)?

The College of Liberal Arts guided me through the process of gaining credit for my experience and was very flexible with all the deadlines of my application. Dr. Peter Miraldi was a big help with any questions I had about the class and how this would impact my curriculum.
