Give us a brief summary of your experience?

This summer I am serving as an intern in the Office of Congressman Brian Fitzpatrick of Pennsylvania's First District. In this role, I answer constituent phone calls, assist with office administrative work, attend hearings and events in support of the office, and conduct legislative research and organization.

How did this experience impact you academically?

This internship has had a great impact on me academically. I have begun to learn more about what policy areas I am interested in and the skills needed to work in politics and government. This will enable me to better shape my academics toward my interests and goals.

"I have begun to learn more about what policy areas I am interested in and the skills needed to work in politics and government."

How will this experience impact your career goals?

This experience will impact my career goals by giving me a more complete understanding of the inner-workings of a congressional office and the skills needed to succeed. I have also been able to grow my professional network.

How has the College of the Liberal Arts helped you to find and/or succeed in this experience (e.g., adviser, faculty, staff, enrichment funds, etc.)?

What I have learned so far in the classroom from the College of the Liberal Arts has helped me succeed very much. I have been able to use the many skills I have acquired at Penn State to really contribute to the office. Also, the enrichment funds made available by the College of the Liberal Arts have enabled me to undertake the expenses associated with an internship in Washington D.C.
