CRIM/SOC 406: Sociology of Deviance
Up one level
Crystal Srebalus

Liberal Arts Major(s): Criminology, Sociology
Hometown: Reading, Pennsylvania

What was the best part of your experience?

I’ve never been abroad before, so learning about the different customs other countries have was so interesting to me. I loved that we were able to explore Amsterdam and talk to the locals. My favorite experience was visiting the Anne Frank house because I had never read the book, and it was so insightful to learn about her story. I also bought a copy of her diary since and have read it since I’ve been back.

[This] was the most interesting and educational course I’ve taken

How did this experience impact you academically?

Academically, I feel as if this entire course impacted me the most through my criminology major. It was the most interesting and educational course I’ve taken, and the fact that we got to see the impact deviance has in other countries (such as the Netherlands) made it much easier to learn and talk about.

How will this experience impact your career goals?

This experience helped me get my foot out the door and travel to another country. I want to travel abroad and join the Peace Corps when I graduate. This has been an all-time dream of mine, so I’m glad I got to experience another country and culture before I graduated.
