What was the best part of your experience?

The best part of my experience abroad was just learning about the different cultures and social systems of the Netherlands. Being immersed within the culture for an entire month had me in awe most of the time. It is amazing to see how other countries' systems work and how they all fit together. The Netherlands is also quite different from the United States, so the contrast was incredible to see. It was also amazing to see the similarities of the two countries.

Every day in class, I think of something that I learned in the Netherlands or about the Netherlands that is relevant to the class topic

How did this experience impact you academically?

Academically, I believe this experience impacted me in a huge way. Every day in class, I think of something that I learned in the Netherlands or about the Netherlands that is relevant to the class topic. It's incredible to be able to connect the two so cohesively as I have been doing. It also helped me to understand what different cultures are like and really expanded my knowledge about myself and my majors.

How will this experience impact your career goals?

This experience will have a large impact on my career goals. I believe that seeing and exploring the Netherlands in the way that I did will help me as I continue on with my potential career. I believe that learning about other cultures is extremely important for criminology, and crime in general, to know and understand how different countries handle crime and criminals.
