What was the best part of your experience?

My internship as a talent acquisition specialist at Spectra was a pivotal step for me. Through this internship, I was exposed to many aspects of the employee recruitment process. The best part of my experience has been the interaction with people at every level of the organization. The management within my department never once treated me like an intern. They gave me meaningful projects and responsibilities that I was accountable for and had to complete by specific deadlines. My last task this summer was to recruit, interview, and recommend the hiring of my replacement for the fall semester.

With the experience I have acquired, I will be able to directly relate and more effectively comprehend what the coursework is trying to convey

How did this experience impact you academically?

I feel that the experience gained through my summer internship at Spectra, a Comcast Spectacor Company, is going to provide me with a different outlook on my coursework when I return to school this fall. With the experience I have acquired, I will be able to directly relate and more effectively comprehend what the coursework is trying to convey. I am confident that I am in a position to be able to apply what I have learned from this summer and excel academically this fall.

How will this experience impact your career goals?

I believe that my 2019 summer internship experience will be the catalyst for my future career opportunities. I am confident that the experience I have gained in the area of talent acquisition will make me a more attractive candidate to HR organizations when being compared to my peers. I have truly enjoyed the projects and responsibilities assigned to me this summer and can definitely see myself considering a permanent role in talent acquisition in the future. By working in the Navy Yard, I could not have chosen a more ideal way to ease into working in a city setting. The taste of a real-life commute into Philadelphia has presented me with ideas of what is to come after I graduate and has made me eager to see what is ahead as I weave these dreams of living in the city into my career goals.
