What was the best part of your experience?

I got to meet a lot of unique people and hear about their very diverse experiences. This helped teach me more about what I want to do in life. It was interesting to hear what different jobs could entail. It was also amazing to experience a whole new city with a completely different culture than anything I was used to.

This experience made me finally take a leap of faith and change my whole career path going into senior year

How did this experience impact you academically?

This experience probably impacted me academically the most. It made me finally decide to go back toward the actuarial science path. I spent the entire summer studying for the first actuarial science exam, and at the end of July I took and passed it. I also changed my entire schedule for next semester. Doing this internship made me realize I wanted to do less finance and more math.

How will this experience impact your career goals?

As previously mentioned, this experience helped me narrow in a bit more on what I want to do in life. It made me finally take a leap of faith and change my whole career path going into senior year. I learned a lot about the business world and how to interact with clients and my superiors. I also learned that I do enjoy the retirement business even though this specific path wasn't for me, so I think I will try to go into an actuarial job within the retirement industry.
