What was the best part of your experience?

The best part of interning at Aramark throughout my summer was the ability to learn from experienced and tenured leaders across the organization, including Supply Chain Management and Procurement. In addition, it positions me for a long-term career opportunity in Aramark's Step-Up to Leadership Program. I am fortunate enough to report to a Director of Distribution who also runs Aramark's ToastMARKer's organization which is its version of Toastmasters International Program.

How did this experience impact you academically?

This experience has given me hands-on, and real-life learning opportunities that reinforce what I've learned so far in my core curriculum. As an Economics Major, I've learned about more about the role it plays in Supply Chain Management and Procurement. Also during this journey, it has made me come to the realization that I also want to pursue a minor in Business. In addition, I am able to bring a fresh perspective to my internship by applying what I've recently learned at Penn State. This gives my co-workers an up-to-date point of view of trends I've learned at school.

How will this experience impact your career goals?

Before working at Aramark, I was unsure if I wanted to work for a small or large organization. This experience helped me to decide that I want to pursue a career in a large, global company. I have many mentors who are helping me explore a variety of leadership roles at Aramark. I consider myself fortunate to have been selected for the Step-Up to Leadership Program because of the competitive candidate pool. The coaching and feedback I have received so far has been invaluable in my pursuit of a senior leadership position. Now I am sure that one of my future career goals is to lead others.
