What was the best part of your experience?

The best part of my experience was gaining hands-on experience. Since the non-profit prides itself on little bureaucracy and overhead, their in-office staff consisted of four women. In my capacity, I was able to take part in meetings, attend UN Security Council and working group meetings, and conduct research. I was also able to meet inspiring activists from all over the world who fight for the rights and safety of women.

My internship impacted my academics by expanding my knowledge of the inner workings of the UN and nonprofits, women's issues, and global development.

How did this experience impact you academically?

My internship impacted my academics by expanding my knowledge of the inner workings of the UN and nonprofits, women's issues, and global development. It also helped me expand my French vocabulary as many of the organization's partners are located in francophone countries. I even attended a meeting at the Swedish Mission that was conducted entirely in French.

How will this experience impact your career goals?

This experience impacted my career goals by helping me better understand the UN system and working at a nonprofit. I now have a better understanding of what it is like working within the UN and at organizations that have to navigate their way through its system.
