What was the best part of your experience?

The best part of my experience has been all of the travel opportunities that were available both through work and the nature of my location in Germany. I have had many rich cultural experiences and met some distant cousins of mine as well as many other great people. In addition I have been able to visit some sites that have great historical importance to my family.

I have gained a great deal of focus and confidence from overcoming many of the challenges that come with moving abroad with minimal support network.

How did this experience impact you academically?

I have gained a great deal of focus and confidence from overcoming many of the challenges that come with moving abroad with minimal support network. From finding an apartment to applying for residency and opening a bank account, there have been many opportunities to grow as a person. I look forward to applying this newfound knowledge to my life at Penn State. In addition to this, I have learned a lot about business I might not have otherwise and improved my German.

How will this experience impact your career goals?

Having the ability to work in several different departments has given me insight into many aspects of a business. These experiences will set the tone for what electives I choose to supplement my engineering degree with as well as what internships and career paths I will choose to pursue in the future. One of my career goals is to get paid to travel; having an international work experience will show companies I have the fortitude to relocate and excel in a position in a foreign country.
