What was the best part of your experience?

My favorite part of the experience was being in the middle of a critical time in the organization's story and development and contributing my marketing knowledge to the experience. The marketing team played an important role during my internship and was responsible for the upcoming Kickstarter launch of the organization. I got to learn from professionals and immerse myself in an office setting. I thoroughly enjoyed that every day I was able to make contributions that were vital to the success of the 50 person organization.

How did this experience impact you academically?

Through this experience I realized that it is important for me to pursue both my majors. Thread International is based in Pittsburgh; however, it operates in Taiwan and Haiti. Majoring in marketing gives me the skill set that I desire while Spanish gives me the competency to work in variety of settings. Every business is extremely globalized today, and being well-versed in business and in international settings is crucial to achieve success in organizations (whether big, mid-size, or small).

How will this experience impact your career goals?

Working with Thread I realized that one day I would love to have my own company where I can dedicate myself to making a social impact. As for the near future, I know that I have chosen the right majors because using marketing in a real-world setting was exciting. It was interesting to see how the strategies and their implementation can have such a tangible impact on a business.
