What was the best part of your experience?

The best part of my experience was that with a smaller firm such as Foster McKay, the projects I worked on had a lot of visibility and a large, direct impact. For example, I was tasked with sourcing a pipeline of candidates as well as interviewing individuals to match their backgrounds with appropriate job openings. At the conclusion of my 10-week internship, I was able to place a candidate in a position with a client company. This placement resulted in both a direct and positive impact for the firm.

Not only did this opportunity allow me to cultivate these critical transferable skills, but it also provided me with an outlet to apply concepts I learned in previous Liberal Arts classes to real world situations.

How did this experience impact you academically?

Many of my Industrial-Organizational Psychology courses assert the importance of skills such as teamwork, communication, and leadership. Not only did this opportunity allow me to cultivate these critical transferable skills, but it also provided me with an outlet to apply concepts I learned in previous Liberal Arts classes to real world situations.

How will this experience impact your career goals?

This experience further solidified my interest in pursuing a career within the realm of Human Resources, where I can help organizations succeed through discovering and retaining human capital. Going into my senior year at Penn State, I now know exactly what I would like to do after I graduate.
