What was the best part of your experience?

I enjoyed the work and numerous opportunities for personal growth and career enrichment during this internship. However, my favorite part of the experience was the people. I met a wide array of people hailing from every discipline within the firm (Executives, Highway, Oil & Gas, Finance, IT, Buildings, Land Planning & Design, etc.). Every single one of them was generous, caring, and appreciative of the work I did. Nothing given to me by the employees within HR was just busy work. My thoughts and opinions were valued, and it was clear I had a seat at the table on every issue we discussed as a team.

Now as I've returned to school for my final year, I find myself looking back on my experience with Borton-Lawson for guidance and for personal experience to help me understand new concepts I am learning in lectures.

How did this experience impact you academically?

During the internship, I got to apply every I/O Psychology principle I had learned in the classroom in a real-world setting. I also took an accelerated online course for the first five weeks of the internship to further supplement my learning. Now as I've returned to school for my final year, I find myself looking back on my experience with Borton-Lawson for guidance and for personal experience to help me understand new concepts I am learning in lectures.

How will this experience impact your career goals?

This experience reaffirmed my previous notion that I want to start my career in the HR field. Eventually I would like to return to school to obtain my M.S. in order to become an Industrial-Organizational Psychologist. Until then, I find my passion lies within Talent Acquisition and Recruiting. I enjoy making people as excited as I am about a certain cause or organization. I find enjoyment in building relationships, and I can't wait to enter the workforce to build and maintain new relationships on behalf of companies.
