Undergraduate Internship/Research

Are you a faculty member with an internship lead or an undergraduate research opportunity you would like to share with Liberal Arts students?  If so, contact the Career Enrichment Network to learn about how to share the opportunity through Nittany Lion Careers, Penn State's internship/job posting system.

LA 495 Department Section Registration Request Form

Staff members or faculty internship instructors in the College of the Liberal Arts can request that an undergraduate be registered for a department section of the LA 495 internship course by filling out the electronic registration request form.  Please note that only staff members or department internship instructors can submit this registration request.

Experiential Education Definitions

The Career Enrichment Department has developed a list of experiential education program definitions to assist departments in the College of the Liberal Arts in the development and implementation of enrichment experiences relevant to their majors, including: Academic Internships, Externships, Service Learning, Undergraduate Research, and Undergraduate Teaching Assistantships.

Embedded Program Development Guidelines

The College of the Liberal Arts is committed to educating and graduating global citizens. To that end, the College encourages and supports faculty interested in developing new global experiences that fit well with the current academic objectives of the College and with the overall University portfolio of global opportunities. The Career Enrichment Network has developed resources that provide advice on the process for developing and leading an embedded course. Academic Internships Best Practices

An internship experience provides students an opportunity to enrich their academic experience at Penn State while working alongside professionals in a field of their interest. This document provides some suggestions for how to develop and oversee an academic internship that effectively integrates the professional and educational experience. We include tips on how to construct an internship syllabus that allows students to integrate their academic and professional training and tips on how to work with employers to promote a positive learning experience for students.
