Job Description:
The student will serve as the program coordinator for the Graduate Alliance for Diversity and Inclusion (GADI), a college-wide organization devoted to supporting graduate students who identify with and are allies to underrepresented communities on campus. Duties will include (but are not limited to) planning and organizing GADI meetings, workshops, and other events; collecting campus and national resources and developing written materials related to diversity and inclusion; meeting with representatives of related campus offices and organizations; and developing and/or contributing to the GADI and Liberal Arts websites and other social media. Strong organizational and time-management skills are essential.
The position reports to the Associate Dean of Research and Graduate Studies. Priorities will be determined in discussion with the Associate Dean and the GADI steering committee. Applications should include a CV and a letter of interest detailing the candidate’s experience with matters of diversity and inclusion, and discussing their interest in the position.
Required Qualifications:
The successful candidate must possess excellent organizational and writing skills; they will be developing and contributing resources for the long-term benefit of the institution, and its students, staff, and faculty members. Past experience with advocating for diversity and inclusion is highly desirable, as is involvement with GADI or other groups focused on diversity issues on campus. Experience with online engagement tools such as Mailchimp, Canva, Slack, and Facebook is preferred.
Candidates must be full-time graduate students in the College of the Liberal Arts at Penn State’s University Park Campus, and be in good academic and conduct standing with the university. The Director of the student’s graduate program must verify their approval for the student applying for the position.
