The College of the Liberal Arts Staff Scholarship Fund was created by the faculty and staff campaign during the Grand Destiny campaign which ended in 2003. The purpose of the fund is to support staff enrichment and professional development.
Eligibility
You must be a full-time, exempt or nonexempt staff employee with one or more years of service in the College of the Liberal Arts who is taking at least one class during the semester in which the award nomination is received.
Fall 2022 Application Process
Liberal Arts staff members enrolled in at least one class during the fall 2022 semester are eligible to apply. Applications are accepted between October 4 through November 24, 2022. A completed application, resume and brief essay are required.
Spring 2023 Application Process
Liberal Arts staff members enrolled in at least one class during the spring 2023 semester are eligible to apply. Applications are accepted between March 13 through April 3, 2023. A completed application, resume and brief essay are required.
Selection Process and Notification
The recipients will be chosen by a committee appointed by the dean. Recipients will be notified in writing. Fall awards will be announced at the annual College's Staff Awards reception held in February. Spring awards will be announced one year from time of award at the annual College's Staff Awards reception held in February.
Disbursement of Funds
The amount of the award will be determined by income available. This amount may change each year. Reimbursement to the employee's Penn State account will be made after the course is completed with a grade of “C” or better. Letter grades must be available after given semester of award; deferred grades are not accepted. These scholarships are not automatically renewed. A new application must be made each semester.
