Filippelli Staff Scholarship Award

This staff scholarship award was created in 2013 in honor of Ron Filippelli, retired associate dean and professor of labor studies and employment relations.

Eligibility

You must be a full-time, exempt, nonexempt, or technical service staff member with one or more years of service in the College of the Liberal Arts who is enrolled in a degree program at Penn State and is taking at least one class at Penn State (either in resident instruction or online) during the semester in which the award nomination is received.

Fall 2019 Application Process

Liberal Arts staff members who are in degree status at Penn State and are taking a course or courses during the Fall 2019 semester are eligible to apply. Applications are accepted between October 1 through December 1, 2019.  A completed application, resume, and brief essay are required. Click here to complete the application for the Filippelli award.

Spring 2020 Application Process

Liberal Arts staff members who are in degree status at Penn State and are taking a course or courses during the Spring 2020 semester are eligible to apply. Applications are accepted between January 1 through March 1, 2020. A completed application, resume, and brief essay are required. Click here to complete the application for the Filippelli award.

Selection Process

The recipients will be chosen by a committee appointed by the dean. Recipients will be notified in writing. Fall awards will be announced at the annual College's Staff Awards reception held in FebruarySpring awards will be announced one year from time of award at the annual College's Staff Awards reception held in February.

Disbursement of Funds

The amount of the award will be determined by income available. This amount may change each year. Reimbursement to the employee’s Penn State account will be made after the course is completed with a grade of “C” or better. Letter grades must be available after given semester of award; deferred grades are not accepted. These scholarships are not automatically renewable. A new application must be made each semester.
