Sandra Schwartz Hillman, ’63 Arts and Letters, is president and owner of Sandy Hillman
Communications, a Baltimore-based firm that provides an array of marketing communications services to Fortune 500 brands, visionary startups, and government agencies. Current and previous clients include Caesars Entertainment, Under Armour, The National World War II Museum, Bonefish Grill, Metro Diner, the Kennedy Space Center and Visitor Complex, The National World War I Museum and Memorial, Walmart, MinuteClinic, Gaylord Hotels, Accelerated Resolution Therapy International Foundation, and the Singapore Tourism Board.Before establishing her own firm, Sandy was CEO of Trahan, Burden, & Charles, where she worked for 23 years. Before that, Sandy served under Baltimore Mayor William Donald Schaefer for 13 years and founded the Office of Promotion and Tourism. There, she led a team that re-branded the city, developed an award-winning tourism infrastructure, and contributed to the creation of many new jobs in the area. Internationally recognized as one of the global leaders in tourism and destination marketing, the late urban guru Wolf Von Eckardt of The Washington Post and Time dubbed Sandy the “impresario of urban America.”
Sandy currently sits on a number of boards and committees including Living Classrooms Foundation, University of Maryland Foundation-Baltimore, Baltimore Office of Promotion and the Arts, Greater Baltimore Committee, and the University of Baltimore’s Schaefer Center for Public Policy.
Sandy was named a Penn State Alumni Fellow in 1990. She and her husband, Bob, reside in Baltimore.
