Outstanding Liberal Arts Alumni Award
Linda Belfus (’70 English) recently retired as senior vice president of Elsevier, one of the leading worldwide providers of web-based, digital information for science and health professionals. As senior vice president, Linda oversaw the global content management team and co-chaired the Elsevier Women’s Network, a group that helps highlight the talent that women bring to the company and promotes their professional progress.
Linda’s publishing career started as a proofreader at W.B. Saunders, where she rose through the ranks and eventually became the first female vice president in company history. Ten years later, she co-founded and served as president/CEO of Hanley & Belfus, a Philadelphia-based medical publisher that produced an array of medical information products and brands that are still thriving today.
Linda has been and remains involved in numerous professional and community organizations; however, she says one of her favorite and most rewarding “non-work” activities continues to be mentoring students through the Liberal Arts Mentor Program.
Linda earned a master’s degree from Villanova University in 1976.
