Q: What are some of the thoughts you had going into the program?
I really had no expectations on what to think, or how it might benefit me in the long term. After I had met my mentor, I felt I had more direction and understanding. I’m glad I’ve gotten involved in this mentorship. Bob has substantially helped me academically, professionally, and socially.
Q: How has your mentoring experience benefitted your academic/professional life?
Academically, he has really helped me to relax more when it comes to school work. He has helped me get a better viewpoint on life, which then helped me in my studies. As far as professionally, we’re currently exploring more options for my future in politics.
Q: What would you say to students about why they should participate?
I would say it’s an invaluable experience. These relationships have the possibility of following you through a lifetime, and in a society of networking and relationships, a mentor can be a friend, a potential employer, or just a great connection for the future.
Q: What are your career goals and plans—and how has your mentorship influenced them?
I’m currently looking to enter the political realm. Bob is a direct mail consultant for the Republican party in Pennsylvania and we are exploring potential future employment for where I may go in politics.
