What enrichment activities did you participate in as a student?
I did an independent study of the Bennett Family Center to determine whether the interpersonal relationships fostered by staff between staff and students resulted in positive outcomes for the students.
What was your first job after graduating from Penn State?
My first job in the field was a psychiatric technician in an adult mental health residential facility for Merakey.
What was your favorite class and/or who was your favorite faculty member?
My PSYCH 490 course with Dr. Neiderhiser was an excellent class. I also enjoyed my Abnormal Psychology and Clinical Psychology courses.
How did your liberal arts education and skills prepare you for life after graduation?
It provided the foundation I needed to enter the field and be a competitive applicant.
What networking advice would you share with current students?
Keep in touch with professors and mentors. Talk to everyone and get to know people. You never know who might have a connection that could benefit you now or even years from now.
What role have mentors played in your career progression?
They’ve provided guidance in deciding what I wanted to do with my degree.
