Grounded in a tradition as old as the academy itself and anchored in one of the world’s top ranked research universities, the College of the Liberal Arts at Penn State is educating the leaders of the 21st century.

Our liberal arts curriculum focuses on excellent writing and communication, critical thinking, and ethical leadership. Combining these traditional liberal arts skills with new literacies in digital scholarship and global awareness, the College graduates students with the self-awareness and professional credentials to succeed in highly competitive job and graduate school markets.

Our students have, in short, the Liberal Arts Edge.

Students gain the Liberal Arts edge by choosing a course of study from among our dozens of top-ranked programs, by taking advantages of resources like the Career Enrichment Network which helps students identify and pay for co-curricular internships, study abroad, and undergraduate research programs.  Our Liberal Arts Alumni are part of the largest alumni network in the world and help our students stand out with their financial support and their time in programs like the Alumni Mentor Program.

Our Liberal Arts Voices blog not only documents our students’ achievements, it also provides an open public space within which students can share their liberal arts experiences, cultivate and grow a community within and beyond the College, and locate the resources they need to succeed.

Welcome to undergraduate education in the College of the Liberal Arts at Penn State.
