MAJOR:

Comparative Literature

EDUCATION ABROAD PROGRAMS RECOMMENDED BY THE DEPARTMENT:

The Comparative Literature Department does not recommend any particular programs. The department encourages students to refer to the preferences of the individual language departments:

German

French

Italian

Spanish

Russian

Chinese

Japanese

ACADEMIC NOTES:

Most study abroad programs that include literature components are compatible with the Comparative Literature major. It is strongly recommended that Comparative Literature majors study in countries where English is not the primary language. Development of foreign language skills is an important component of the major, and students should take advantage of programs that enhance their language fluency.

OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

Since Comparative Literature is global in its perspective, students are strongly urged to take advantage of opportunities offered through education abroad. Education abroad credits also apply towards the Global and International Studies major, which is administered by the Department of Comparative Literature.
