About

New LACW 2018Liberal Arts Career Week (January 22-26, 2018) is a week-long event designed to provide students with opportunities to develop professional skills and provide networking opportunities that will support their future career paths. By participating in this week’s employer and alumni panels, workshops, and networking events, students can learn skills needed to embark on their career journey and achieve success in their professional lives.

Join Recruiters from Johnson & Johnson to understand better how to market your liberal arts skills in the job and internship search.

3:15p.m. - 4:15p.m. Develop Your Brand and be LinkedIn

Come learn from expert Lauren Sproles of Vanguard on how to develop your professional brand and use LinkedIn effectively. LinkedIn photos will be available after the workshop until 5pm.

5:30p.m. - 7:00p.m. Stepping Out of Your Comfort Zone: Networking and Interviewing

Join Happy Valley Improv to step outside your comfort zone and develop skills to engage with others in a professional setting. The troupe will engage students in learning listening skills, conversation skills, understanding body language, etc. This event is sponsored by Vanguard.

Join representatives from the College of the Liberal Arts Research and Graduate Studies to learn more about the process, testing, applications, deadlines, financial aid and more when it comes to applying to graduate school.

3:15p.m. - 4:15p.m. Deciding on Law School   

Join pre-law adviser Kathy Garren and Julian Morales, Director of Admissions, Penn State Law, to decide if law school is right for you. Information will include understanding the application process, deadlines, LSAT’s, and the current Penn State resources available to help you.

4:30p.m. - 5:30p.m. International Internships and the Career Benefits of Education Abroad

Learn about the process for pursuing an international internship and strategies for articulating the skills you’ve gained abroad to future employers. An International Internships Information Session hosted by IES Abroad will follow at 6 pm in 024 Carnegie Building for students interested in learning more about specific opportunities to intern abroad.

Calling all first-year and sophomore students! Come learn about how to start your career journey early from Deloitte Consulting. You will hear about how to prepare for your first internship and beyond, including a discussion on opportunities to take advantage of early in college and how to stand out in the workforce as a Liberal Arts student.
