The United Way Campaign

Current Fundraising Progress

Letter from the Dean

Faculty and staff colleagues,

I am happy to be able to write in support of United Way. I urge each of you to consider making a gift.

Through United Way we can give back to our local communities and to the many people in need in our communities. United Way serves many different groups. We might think first of families in need of food and shelter and of individuals needing attention for their physical or emotional health. But United Way also supports groups that provide constructive activities for young people, literacy training for adults, disability services for all age groups, library services throughout Centre County, and recreational opportunities through support for organizations such as the YMCA. These are just some of the many activities that are enhanced or even sustained by United Way support. (A full list of agencies supported can be found at http://www.ccunitedway.org/pdf/agencies.pdf.)

Of course, not all of us use a United Way service each year. But most of us probably use at least one, and even if we do not, it is good to know that these services exist to make our Centre County communities better places to live.

Please join me and members of our Liberal Arts United Way committees and volunteers in supporting the United Way.

Regards,

Susan Welch

Goals/Mission

Our mission is to improve the quality of the lives of those in our local communities by energizing and inspiring the faculty and staff in our college to make a difference.

We do this by:

  • educating others about the United Way's mission and vision.
  • encourage our community to contribute donations via payroll deduction raising funds by holding special events.
Letter from the Current Chair

Are you interested in helping out those in need in your community? Do you enjoy energizing and inspiring others? If you said yes to either of these questions, please consider becoming a member of the Liberal Arts United Way Steering Committee . We are a group of employees whose mission is to raise money both through encouraging participation in the payroll deduction program and through special events. Some examples of our past activities have included: book sales, hot dog and pizza sales, developing incentive prizes for participation, and an on-line auction. We hope to have new and exciting events in the upcoming year; the calendar of events on this page will provide more details. If you don't want to become a regular member of the committee, please consider offering a suggestion for an activity, lending a helping hand at one of our events, or contributing items for your department's auction entry.

The committee meets the second Tuesday of each month, from 8:30 to 9:30, usually in 124 Sparks Bldg.

We will greatly appreciate your support.
