Education Abroad

All Liberal Arts graduates, regardless of major or field of study, will live and work in a world that is culturally and globally challenging. Prepare yourself for this new world by studying abroad. Penn State offers wide-ranging possibilities for international experiences. Of the over 170 programs available for Penn State students, one is bound to be right for you.

Liberal Arts students should find it easy to incorporate education abroad into their academic careers, because the credit earned abroad through Penn State affliated education abroad programs will receive Penn State credit and can be used to fulfill requirements for graduation (major, minor, General Education, BA, or electives). You can take courses to improve foreign language skills or you can take courses in English on special programs designed for American students in non-English-speaking countries. In some programs, Penn State professors teach the classes and lead the excursions. Other programs allow you to enroll directly into courses at a foreign university. You may study abroad for a semester, a summer, or an entire academic year.

Education abroad gives you an opportunity to explore new cultures, to learn foreign languages, or to try out possible careers through internships. Most importantly, studying abroad will enrich your understanding of your own culture, provide you with invaluable insights, and give you the confidence that you can make your way in today’s world. It is a life-changing experience.
