Spring 2008 Commencement

The spring 2008 undergraduate commencement ceremony for The College of the Liberal Arts will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2008, at 6:00 p.m., in the Bryce Jordan Center. The Graduate School ceremony will be held on Sunday, May 18, 2008, at 5:00 p.m., in the Bryce Jordan Center.

The commencement speaker at the undergraduate ceremony will be Kenneth Frazier, Vice President and President, Global Human Health, of Merck & Co., Inc., the nation's second largest pharmaceutical company. Mr. Frazier received a B.A. degree in Political Science from Penn State in 1975 and a J. D. from Harvard Law School in 1978. Mr. Frazier oversees more than 30,000 employees and directs Merck & Co.'s worldwide marketing and sales organization.

The student chosen to represent the spring semester class of 2008 as the College Marshal is Mark D. Gough. Mark is graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and an integrated Bachelor of Science Labor Studies and Employment Relations and a Master’s of Science in Industrial Relations and Human Resources. Because Mark is receiving honors in both his majors, he selected both Dr. Alexander J. S. Colvin, Associate Professor of Labor Studies and Employment Relations, and Dr. David Shapiro, Professor of Economics, Demography, and Women's Studies, to serve as his faculty marshals.
