LA 495.1 - College-wide Internship Course
LA 495.1 is designed to enhance your internship experience by integrating academic, reflection-based assignments with the practical experience you gain at your internship site. When you earn credit for your internship, you enter into a contract with your instructor and your site supervisor, and are evaluated on your performance at your internship site as well as on your academic work. Your grade reflects the effort you put into completing the academic assignments as well as your work at the site.
In fact, your grade is derived from an equally weighted combination of your performance at your internship site (50 percent) and your performance on the academic assignments (50 percent). It is therefore extremely important that you view the academic portion of LA 495.1 as you would any other course you take at Penn State. If you put your best effort into the internship, you will have an experience that cannot be matched in either a classroom alone or a job alone.
