Overview of LA 495
LA (Liberal Arts) 495 internship courses allow Liberal Arts students to receive academic credit from completing internships related to their academic and career goals. Students may sign up for LA 495.1, a College-wide internship course, or they may enroll in other sections of LA 495 run by various departments. Grades for all sections of LA 495 are based partly on the academic component of the course—typically journal entries, analytical papers, and/or portfolios—and partly on performance evaluations from the student’s on-site supervisor. You simply take care of the on-site supervision and periodically evaluate your intern; we assign and grade the student’s academic assignments.
By agreeing to supervise students participating in LA 495 internships, you have access to students in some of Penn State’s largest and most renowned departments, including Crime, Law, and Justice; Psychology; Economics; Communication Arts and Sciences; English; and many others. Also, you will always have a contact at Penn State should you have any questions or concerns about your interns or wish to recruit additional students.
