Summer Tuition Assistance Program
(application deadline is March 24)
The purpose of this program is to provide tuition assistance to graduate students who have held assistantships or full fellowships for two consecutive semesters (Fall AND Spring) so they can continue graduate studies during the summer.
Students should be registering for 400 level or above required courses or required speech communication courses for international students and approved by the students' Graduate Directors . Students will be billed for audits, which cannot be used to satisfy degree requirements and unapproved registrations.
Credit Maximums:
Registration of no more than 9 credits are accepted for students that were appointed as graduate assistants for the preceding fall and spring semesters.
NOTE: If a student registers for more than the credit maximum or additional courses that were not approved, he/she will be billed for those additional credits and the student will be liable for payment of the additional tuition. This program only covers tuition. The student is responsible for any additional course fees.
Important Information :
Students need to consult with their advisors to determine the appropriate coursework during the summer.
STAP cannot be processed until students schedule for courses on eLion.
Students apply through their academic programs even if they were funded through a different college or unit.
An award cannot be delayed and transferred, e.g., from a summer session to a fall semester or spring semester.
A list of approved applicants will be available to the department's Director of Graduate Studies and staff assistant. Students will receive an email confirming reciept of their application. When their application is approved, the student will receive an email stating that their application has been approved for courses applied and given additonal information on the course guidelines.
Students that have been denied will also recieve an email with reasons why their application was denied.
Students must go through the regular bill filing process and registration for classes in order for the funds to be directed toward the students' tuitions.
NOTE: There is a limited pool of money available to the College. Prompt submission of your application will ensure that you will receive complete consideration.
