Catherine Rein '64 labor management relations is the chair of the corporate relations program committee of the For the Future campaign. Cathy retired in March 2008 as senior executive vice president and chief administrative officer of MetLife, Inc. She began her career at MetLife in 1985 as vice-president in charge of the human resources department. Before joining MetLife, she served as vice president and general counsel for The Continental Group, Inc. Cathy currently serves on the board of directors of The Bank of New York Mellon and FirstEnergy Corp. She is also a life member of the board of trustees of New York University Law School.

Cathy received her J.D. from New York University. She received a Distinguished Alumni Award in 1991 and an Alumni Fellow Award in 1995, both from Penn State.

Cathy has endowed the Shultz Family Graduate Fellowship in the College of the Liberal Arts, the Shultz Family Trustee Scholarship in the College of the Liberal Arts, the John Shultz, Sr. Graduate Fellowship in Labor Studies and Industrial Relations, the Esther A. Shultz Undergraduate Enrichment Fund in the College of the Liberal Arts and the Catherine Shultz Rein Trustee Scholarship in the College of the Liberal Arts.
