Council Member

Gilbert R. Watz, '49 commerce and finance is a retired planning specialist for ExxonMobil, Houston, TX. He is a member of the Liberal Arts Center for Language Acquisition board of visitors and recipient of the 2007 Service to Penn State Award sponsored by the Liberal Arts Alumni Society.

Gil endowed the Harry and Dora Watz Memorial Scholarship for South Philadelphia High School Graduates, and the Sylvia and Gustave Raes Scholarship for Students from South Philadelphia High School—both active University-wide scholarships. He has also supported the Franklin H. Cook Faculty Fellowship in Business Ethics Scholarship at Penn State. Gil also funds the Gilbert R. Watz Fund for Language Acquisition in the College of the Liberal Arts and established the Gilbert Watz Dean's Enhancement Fund.
