Council Member
Bruce L. Claflin ’73 PL SC is retired-president and chief operating officer of 3Com Corporation of Santa Clara, California, where he oversaw the worldwide operations of 3Com’s $5.4 billion networking business. Previously, Claflin served as senior vice president/group executive, worldwide sales and marketing, for Digital Equipment Corporation, where he led a global organization of 12,000 employees, and at IBM, he held a variety of domestic and international positions and was responsible for the introduction of the ThinkPad notebook PC. Bruce was named Alumni Fellow in 1998 and received the Distinguished Alumni Award in 2001.
Together with his wife Karen, Bruce has endowed the Bruce and Karen Claflin Scholarship in Liberal Arts and the Claflin Family Graduate Fund in the College of the Liberal Arts.
