Council Member

Bruce R. MillerBruce R. Miller ’71 political science is founder and retired president of Employee Benefits Corporation of America, a group health and life insurance brokerage firm headquartered in McLean, VA. He is chair, College of the Liberal Arts Development Council and Liberal Arts Campaign Steering Committee; vice chair and member of the Executive Committee of the University's recently launched fundraising effort, For the Future: The Campaign for Penn State Students; chair, Athletics Campaign Annual Giving Subcommittee; member, National Council on Penn State Philanthropy; member, Athletics Campaign Committee; member and former chair, Political Science Alumni Board of Visitors; lifetime member of the Penn State Alumni Association; member, The President’s Club; member, Mount Nittany Society and Laurel Circle; member, Nittany Lion Club. He is the 1998 recipient of the College of the Liberal Arts’ Service to Penn State Alumni Award, in 2004 he was named an Alumni Fellow by the Penn State Alumni Association, and in 2005 Penn State named him Fundraising Volunteer of the Year.

Most recently, Bruce and his partner, Dean LaVigne, established the Bruce R. Miller and Dean D. LaVigne Professorship in Political Science. In addition, Bruce and Dean fund the Bruce R. Miller and Dean D. LaVigne Scholarship in the College of the Liberal Arts, the Bruce R. Miller and Dean D. LaVigne Graduate Fellowship in Political Science, the Bruce R. Miller and Dean D. LaVigne Distinguished Graduate Fellowship in the Field of Political Science, the Bruce R. Miller and Dean D. LaVigne Women’s Volleyball Endowed Scholarship, and the Bruce R. Miller and Dean D. LaVigne Alumni Association Endowment for Homecoming Parade Awards. Additionally Bruce and Dean are donors to the Center for the Performing Arts.
